In recognition of January 2020 as National Biotechnology Month<\/a><\/strong>, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency launched a\u00a0Unified Website for Biotechnology Regulation<\/a>.<\/strong> The website streamlines information about the three regulatory agencies charged with overseeing agriculture biotechnology products.<\/p>\n

The Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity was formed in April 2017 \u201cto ensure the informed exercise of regulatory authority that impacts agriculture and rural communities.\u201d The Task Force issued its report in January 2018 identifying several recommendations and calls for action, including harnessing technological innovation in agricultural production. EPA, FDA and USDA APHIS worked closely with other federal agencies to provide input to the Task Force on ongoing biotechnology activities and to help identify concrete future actions.
